In China, you can see Starbucks, Coffee Bene everywhere in large and medium cities, they are all famous coffee chain. Coffee and tea have the same efficacy to refreshing, their flavor are bitter, and they have their own unique fragrance, can be made into hot or cold, they have many similarities. But Chinese tea has not been popular as coffee. Though chinese tea is also very popular among western countries, it doesn't have the international chain brands like Starbucks. Someone said that the Starbucks is a business model to sell coffee to who like sweet drinks not coffee. What do you think about that?
I think Starbucks is a very good business model and they have a strong market team. The traditional Chinese tea is based on not just the tea, but also the process of tea making for both calming, meditation and spending time with friends/family. This is harder to promote in a fast pace society. Perhaps, some day in the future someone can develop a model suitable for the traditional Chinese tea house business, where one can make their own tea with the traditional style.
